The Brief
Bajaj Consumer Care, one of India’s leading hair care and personal care FMCG companies, approached MRG with a specific brief for their all-team Annual Day at Sun n Sand Juhu.
The brief was clear in its intent: this was not a corporate ceremony. There would be no business updates, no awards segment to manage, no scheduled recognition moments to execute. The day was about giving the entire team an experience that felt genuinely different from a work day at the office.
The themed concept was central to the brief. The client wanted a Hawaiian theme that transformed the venue completely — not as a decorative touch, but as an immersive environment the team walked into. Combined with Sun n Sand Juhu’s beachfront character, the brief asked MRG to deliver a full experiential day that the team would talk about long after.
The Approach
A celebration-format event with a strong theme works only when every touchpoint reinforces the concept. Our approach focused on three parallel tracks running through the day — environment, experience, and content.
Environment. The Hawaiian theme drove the entire venue transformation. Tropical decor across pre-function and main spaces. Themed entrance moments. Tiki-inspired bar setups. Decor elements that felt continuous rather than scattered, so attendees experienced the theme as immersion, not branding.
Experience. Multiple parallel activations gave attendees agency to choose how they engaged with the day. Hawaiian game stalls created interactive moments. A photobooth with on-the-spot photo frames gave each attendee a takeaway. A live band and DJ alternated through the evening to manage energy from arrival through peak celebration. An emcee anchored the experience without dominating it.
Content. The on-the-spot photo frames detail was deliberate. Most corporate events promise photographs delivered later. We wanted Bajaj Consumer Care’s team to walk out with a tangible memory of the day before the night ended — physical evidence of the celebration they could take home.
Production and Execution
Sun n Sand Juhu’s beachfront character is part of what makes it work as a venue for a Hawaiian themed event. The setting and theme reinforced each other rather than competing. Our production work focused on amplifying that natural alignment.
Custom Hawaiian themed decor was developed for the event — tropical foliage, themed entrance arches, custom signage, and atmospheric elements that read as Hawaiian without becoming cartoonish. The execution stayed deliberately premium, fitting the Bajaj brand sensibility.
Live entertainment included a live band selected for the evening’s tonal range, anchored by a professional emcee who carried the audience through transitions without over-narrating. A DJ took over for the high-energy dance segment of the evening, with sound levels and music selection calibrated for an all-employees audience.
The Hawaiian game stalls were positioned around the venue to create natural gathering points — small clusters of conversation and competition rather than a single focal point. This helped the energy stay distributed across the venue rather than concentrating around the stage.
The photobooth was placed at a high-traffic transition point with on-the-spot photo frame delivery for each attendee — a small operational detail that meaningfully changed how attendees engaged with the moment.
Why It Worked
Pure-celebration corporate events fail most often when the theme feels like a layer placed on top of a standard event template. The audience can sense the difference between a theme that drives the event and a theme that decorates it.
For Bajaj Consumer Care, the Hawaiian theme drove every choice — decor, music, activations, photo content, even the rhythm of the evening. There was no underlying “standard annual day” the theme was wallpapered onto. The day was Hawaiian from arrival to departure.
The all-employees format also created its own operational challenge: serving an entire company across age, role, and energy preferences. The multi-track approach (band, DJ, games, photobooth) gave different segments of the audience natural entry points to participate.
That Bajaj Consumer Care continues to work with MRG across subsequent annual events is the closing signal that mattered most. Pure-celebration events are evaluated less by formal metrics and more by whether the team genuinely enjoyed the day. The repeat partnership is the honest answer to that question.
